Unfiltered giggles spouted from a rambunctious bow tie-clad toddler, son of the most dear Tico family with bloodlines so distant and at the same time so similar to mine. Ben and Taja are the kind of people you want to spend an unscripted Sunday with. No agenda, no expectations, just pure enjoyment, heart-to-heart conversation, sharing life together over a never-ending pot of coffee.
I’ve never seen two people more meant to be parents. Patience, love, grace, and kindness abounded in every gesture, every twirl of a beaming little girl, every toss of a mini gentleman high into the air above dad’s shoulders. My heart overflowed with joy just watching them together, smiling richly at the life they’ve created for themselves.
My first friend in Costa Rica, Taja, it has been an incredible blessing to watch you become a mother to two of the most considerate, beautiful children. I am deeply humbled and honored to get to share this session with you all today. We scrambled through the rocky roads of Grecia to find the perfect location for this family’s photo session. Weeks prior this beautiful mama had suggested shooting in the newly harvested sugar cane fields. Genius!
As the sun set majestically over the hill we encouraged Ben and Taja’s family to be themselves. Plenty of room to spin, jump, run, and play throughout the entire session led to heirloom photographs capturing genuine moments, sincere family connections, and the playful innocence of childhood.
Ben and Taja, thank you so much for allowing me to be a part of such precious family time. I can’t tell you how much I learned about the power and love in a family from spending a short, beautiful evening with you. I can’t wait to watch your little ones grow, and I hope these images remind you of the beautiful memories you’re making now.
